Does anyone have any useful information on this subject other than why not to breed?

Ok, let the flaming begin....
I thougt I did a great job giving you some not so great scenarios of why you shouldnt breed. Maybe I mis-understood what you are asking. To answer your other question, yes, I have kept some of the puppies that I have bred. But, since I show and breed, I kept them for different reasons than you would be. To answer another of your questions, some females just dont make great moms. some of them will not get milk and some will refuse to take care of the babies period. Some will not accept the puppies after a c-section. They wake up and there are these "things" trying to get close to her and nurse.
I am not trying to make you feel "guilty" for breeding. I am just giving you reasons not to breed and what can happen if you do. I am not saying that these thing will happen, you just need to be prepared that they might. If I only had one Yorkie that was the love of my life, I would never risk her life just to have some more Yorkies around the house. I would buy another Yorkie first.

I think I got confused. This is also ment for the original poster. (having a grey moment.LOL)
