It sounds to me like your pup just wants to be near you. Where do you place the crate at night at the moment? If you dont already, would it be possible to put him in his crate next to your bed? If you place his crate right next to your side of the bed he'll more than likely calm down and go to sleep.

I had this same problem with my girl when I first got her. I know just how tired and frustrated you must feel right now and this technique really worked for me. It was like an instant solution, she stopped crying imediately! Cant tell you how good that felt! lol
