I live in Watsonville....20 some minutes from Santa Cruz.
My Husband actually works in Santa Cruz. The area is gorgeous and very friendly. Downtown Santa Cruz has great restaurants, fun places to hang out & a movie theater.
I'm sure you'll make great friends and in no time.
