I always thought that meet ups would be great places to meet people who could watch your yorkie when you go on vacation, if you were to do the same for them. So far that has not worked out for us, unfortunately... Especially hard if you have 2. Who wants to pay for the old towne pet resort or some other very expensive place you can trust? |
I know what you mean about finding someone you can trust to watch the babies. Fortunately for us, our groomer, who is also the lady that rescued Smokey to find him a home, also boards too and will board Smokey for free and Chip for $7 a night.
I love yorkie meet ups because it's a great place for the well socialized dogs to get energy out by playing and for other dogs to learn to socialize. Smokey loves everyone - humans, dogs, cats, squirrels - you name it... so meet ups for him is just play time and time for him to get out extra energy. For Chip, it's more for socialization. We've had him since he was 7 weeks and he's very, very, very attached to us and learned no socialization from his mommy, despite everything we've tried. He pretty much stays by my side. I mean, at least he's not running around attacking dogs and people, he just is a mama's boy I guess. Also, for Smokey, I like taking him to meet ups to work on training. People at meet ups generally are more understanding about how dogs can be and will help you work with them and Smokey needs to work on his greeting behavior, so I try to work on that while I'm there.
