I have a kitty and a dog. And they really shouldn't eat each others food.
I have mine on a schedule. I feed my dog when we get up in the morning. I put a little wet food in with the dry to make sure he eats it. Then I feed him in the evening when I get home. I feed my cat when we go to bed at night and since my dog is in my room he has no access to the cat food. This has worked very well for me..
