Easy homemade Doggy Cookies This is a recipe that I revised for my dogs. My babies love peanut butter flavored snacks. At Christmas I made these for my dogs and for my friends dogs as Christmas presents and also for doggy birthdays. I keep them in a doggie cookie jar and they keep very well. A batch will last my dogs for about 21/3 weeks. I use little animal shaped cookie cutters but you can shape into bones or circles if you like.
2 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour
3/4 cup of nonfat dry milk powder
1 egg beaten
1/4 cup veg. oil
1/3 cup peanut butter
3/4 cup water
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees
2. Combine the flour, dry milk and brown sugar
3. Add the beaten egg, water and oil. Mix well
4. Add the peanut butter and knead dough for about 1 - 2 minutes.
5. On a floured surface (use the whole wheat flour) roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. I used cookie cutters but you can shape into bones or circles. Place on a cookie sheet. (Warning do not use a dark coated cookie sheet you may burn them up like I did! LOL Use a cheap silver colored cookie sheet for best results!)
6. Bake for 20 -25 minutes.
I haven't seen a dog turn one down yet. When I start mixing them my babies sit in the kitchen and my lab drools. LOL My husband says they smell yummy while baking!
