I had this happen with Lucy recently, too. I have one of those "tic off" removers and used it to remove the tic, but Lucy had a very red, swollen area under her right front leg for a few days after. It scabbed up and I kept neosporin on it. She's right as rain now, but you do need to make sure the head is out.
