I agree with this. Yorkies were bred to kill rats. look up the history of the yorkie. but this was some time ago. I wouldn't worry about the rats, but I woudn't want them around because they carry so many diseases. I would worry more about the larger birds out in the country. I always keep a close eye on my boy when outside and I live in the city. You never know when there is some hungry bird out there who thinks your baby is a Rabbit..LOL.. I would never let them out alone anyways.
