I totally agree with this. We got our Toby in Oct. He was then 18 months old. I couldn't imagine how someone could give him away! His first owner worked all day and he was home with another pup. He had no socialization. Perhaps Jim Bobs owner saw him as an Accessory?
Toby's reactions to things are not at all what we would expect from a "normal" dog. We have started working with a behaviorist, and I'm going back to the 'baby books' and starting the socialization from the 8 week stage.(My idea, not the Behaviorist)
Don't give up! You didn't raise him, but I know you can work with him and bring him around. How you would feel in a country where everyone spoke a different language? Eventually he will get it, but it will take time. Good Luck! and keep us posted.
