Default Allergy Test Results Are In : Need Advice

So after Lexi's long months of suffering the allergy test is in. The results are that she is allergic to Dust Mites. The doctor said it is virtually impossible to create a dust free environment, and our only option is some sort of allergy shot. He said it costs $250 for 4-6months. We would give it every 4 days initially then either once a week or once a month, he said he will have to evaluate her. Has anyone else had experience with these shots? Are there any other options. The doctor says there is no other option, but maybe someone here knows something. Also he told us about 70% of dogs are successful with this, and it will not have negative effects on her? Do you think this could reduce her life span, or hurt her in other ways?

Please offer any and all advice THANKS!
