Any suggestions as her last resort is to put her in a crate! She chewed up 7 sets of blinds before she confined her to kitchen..I think she is just really stressing out being left alone..She has noone to check on her or keep her during the day and cannot afford doggie care..Is there anything they can be given to help with their stress until they learn to cope? thanks in advance to all replies!
She may need to take her to the vet to see if a mild sedative will help her. Another suggestion is to buy a couple of the "Kong" dog toys that you can full with food and special treats. It will take some time for the dog to get the food out and it will be both appealing and relaxing and will redirect her chewing to something appropriate. Pick up a copy of "Before and After Getting your Puppy" by Ian Dunbar he discusses the uses and benefits oftheKongs. They are available at dog stores, walmarts, targets etc. Let me know how it works out.
