I'm not a "professional" but I've been grooming my own since a botched hair cut and have always trimmed ears in between visits.

It's easy. Shave the back and front of ears in an upside down V. I use the clippers without a blade. To get the edges sharp...I use haircutting shears...using the fingers on one hand to feel the edge of the ears and the other to cut.

I also use my clippers for sanitary shaves and tummies plus between paw pads.
