I have wooden ones in the bedroom and the living room to help prevent jumping injuries. Mine won't go up or down without them. I don't recommend the foam ones as they've been known to cause twisted knees & ankles as well as other injuries. Also, Petsmart and Petco have a hard plastic set that is tall enough for most beds. If I didn't already have mine, I would try these.

Also, my vet told me that jumping UP onto furniture is actually harder on the knees and legs than jumping DOWN.
