Your question was one of my first questions on Yorkietalk. The instructions with the retractable leash really made them sound dangerous. I bought the smallest, I think the cord is 6 foot, but it really is too short, and the small one doesn't fit the hand that well. I bought the one with the 12 foot cord, and love it. It also has a locking feature, and you can use it as a regular leash. Practice with it in the open and even if you get the longer cord model, choose it for the lightest weight dog you can, I think that's 30-50 pounds. It's great no tangling ever. I would get one with an even longer cord if I could find it.
