I use retractable leashes (the smallest one) with my two yorkies - at the same time. I prefer them over the traditional type.
Now, I've tried using a bigger version with my son's boxer and about lost a finger one day. It was wrapped around my index finger and "Cash" bolted on me. The leash cord pulled out of the holder so quickly, it did cut my finger! So, be careful if you have a larger dog.
