No, you do not need to show to breed or register a litter. You can get any litter registered as long as they both (female and male) AKC registered Yorkies you are breeding. Showing has nothing to do with it.
PrinceAmos I am just starting out showing, matter of fact November will be my first showing with Polyana. I have shown with IABCA before with the Biewers. But with AKC you can show at a all breed and then there are local yorkie clubs that will host shows just for that particular breed. So check for Yorkie Clubs in your state as well. When you go to the AKC site there is the person in charge for that particular show and they usually list a email address you can always write to them and they may be able to direct you toward a Club that is not listed. I think there are other members that may be a little more informed, but this is a start.....
