Now she is trying to decide if she should take away the moms puppies and bottle feed them instead. She said the mom has picked them up several times moving them around and she is beside herself worried she will kill her own babies too! I really don't know what the heck to tell her!! The sad part is that the other mom has no pups now and she will be mourning. How many pups are in the remaining litter? My advise is to leave the pups with their mom. The mom was under duress when her babies were taken away and she probably got confused and thought the other female had them. The only other choice would be to let the other mom that had her's killed raise them but in either situation one of the moms is going to be very sad. Whatever she does I think for the benefit of the puppies they need to be raised by one of the moms and not bottle fed.
Please tell your friend that I understand how much she hurts right now. We all make mistakes. I am sure she never dreamed this could happen. I am so sorry this happened to her babies.
