I keep my girls short cut So much easier to deal with. As for the cold I have coats and sweaters for them, they don't go out in really cold. I don't think long hair is going to keep them significantly warmer, a thicker coat would but that is not going to happen with this breed. IMHO
I just like a short cut look better, I also don't cut the hair on the ears so it tends to make the ears fold down, Again a personal preference.
