Well I have an older cat and a 3 year old yorkie. A yorkie will learn to respect a cat real quick..hehe.. My cat and dog play everynow and then by chasing each other but they will never be close buddies..LOL.. IF my boy gets to close to the Cat he will get slapped real quick. I think they will be okay. I don't think your Yorkie can hurt the cat and cats can jump and have a way of getting out of the way of these guys. Wheither it is slapping them quickly or just moving to a higher place.
