I used to live in Flagstaff, Az at 7000 feet and would take my girls hiking in the peaks and they were about 9000 feet where we would go. I didnt have any problems but they were acclimated to the area. I do know that there is not as much oxygen at those high allitudes and people visiting from the lower elevations would faint because of this. Definately bring the dogs some warm blankies and if possible, put shoes on them as the snow can burn their feet. Keep them inside as much as possible. I know, my Yorkies hated snow and I lived in Flagstaff for 14 years!! |
