I felt the same way as you. I wanted a Yorkie so badly, but was afraid to get one with my young children. I saw how my 3 year old interacted with my friend's little 3 lb Malti-poo and he was incredible with her (plus we already had a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix before he was born). So, I took my kids with me to look at Yorkies and we found one we fell in love with. Charles was 3 and I had a newborn baby. They do wonderful together! I watch the kids really closely when they're around Harley and I make sure Harley behaves as well. Harley does get nervous around other people's little ones that get too close to him (sometimes growls and has nipped twice), but he loves my nieces and nephew that are older (10 and up). Oh, and he is 6.8 lbs. I specifically looked for one that wouldn't be too small. Plus, they're usually a little less expensive which is nice!
