First, I am so sorry your daughter has had to go through all of this pain and I do hope her dream does become a reality and she makes the college team. As to an answer to your question though about the bad reaction to a cortisone shot....that's what I'm going through right now, only it is my elbow. I was diagnosed with "tennis elbow" about a year and a half ago and that is when I had the shot. For a while it took the pain away and then the skin started to lose its pigment and then sink in like your daughter's knee. Long story short, I can no longer straighten my arm, the muscles around my elbow have atrophied so badly that the slightest bump sends me reeling! I was scheduled for surgery next month to have the muscles repaired and the now protruding elbow bone shaved down but have postponed it until early May because I am told I will not be able to move my elbow for 3 weeks and it is my right arm and I want to wait until the warmer weather so there are less clothes to deal with...and also because I am scared to death!....So yes, I would say this was a bad reaction to the cortisone shot.....
