Lessee....I go to give my son a shower last night. The handle for the cold water just spins round and round and round. Well damn. Seems I need to replace the shower faucets. It's only been 22 years so no complaints there. Uh oh...I can't get the screws out of the valve to get the faucet off and my pipes are BETWEEN the two walls next to the toilet. So....I end up having to remove the walls to get to the main lines and remove them from there. Tis okay. Easily fixed with putty and paint. I go outside and turn off the main water line. I go back in...remove the faucet and off to Home Depot I go. Not bad. $30.00. I can handle this. I go back home and attach the new faucet. Go back outside (mind you our HIGH for the next few days is single numbers) and turn the water on. I STILL HAVE NO COLD WATER....what the hell???? I have water to my toilet and sink but no cold to the bathtub. I instantly think oh man, did I forget to plug my heat tape in? Back outside I go to check out the situation. Oh yes, it's plugged in but....and a BIG BUT...THE LANDLORDS HAVE IT WRAPPED AROUND THEIR MAIN INTAKE LINE!!!! Seems when they replaced the main water line last year they moved the heat tape from MY lines to theirs!!! At this point I'm cranked. To say the least. After 2 hours of putting a hair dryer on every pipe in that bathroom I now have cold water in the shower. I will always have cold water to my shower as it will not be shut off until spring. So......how's your day going?
