 heat cycle questions....
Good morning, I am brand new here and I have a few questions about the heat cycle in Yorkies. I have been tracking my girls heat since they started (she is 2.5 yrs. old) and I am at the point of her first breeding. We have the vets approval although no blood testing has been done. 6 days ago I gave her a bath and she had yet to show any signs of her cycle coming on. Later that day she was slightly swollen indicating to me that she was beginning her cycle soon. (which was 6 mos. and 5 days since her last cycle) I have checked her daily to notice any change and so far nothing. Like I said it has been 6 days since the swelling began. My question is this: Is the swelling the beginning of her cycle or the blood appearing the beginning of her cycle? I have been all around in books and searching the web and there is contradicting information. (or just plain unclear information) I also am curious as to opinions on the best time from the start of bleeding to go see our little stud. I have heard very contradicting info on this too. Thanks in advance, I assume I should see blood very soon becasue this is 6 days into swelling without any sign of blood. Any other advice would be appreciated. I am looking forward to hear new and educated opinions on this topic. -Melissa |
