All vets and groomers do NOT scan dogs automatically for microchips, though! Bella has a microchip and has been to a couple of different vets and groomers and has NEVER been scanned, not once! I think they only scan them routinely if a dog comes in that was found. But, if a person steals a dog and brings that dog in, the likelihood of it being scanned is pretty much nil. Now, maybe if you called every single vet, groomer, etc... in your area to let them know your dog is missing and that it was microchipped and gave a description, then maybe they'd be more likely to scan all NEW dogs entering their facility that fit that description??? Maybe.....
