Gucci is a week shy of 5 months and he too has this problem. He shreds his puppy pads, throws his pillow buddy and toys EVERYWHERE within 10-15 minutes after I leave ( I have tested and came back to check lol ) .. so I KNOW It is seperation anxiety. He gets VERY anxious when he sees me getting dressed because he knows I am leaving. He will run around by me and follow me. It makes me so sad for him.
I am going to try and start leaving on a movie when I leave and see if that helps him at all, as it may distract him or keep him thinking I am in another room and help with his anxiety. Maybe you can try that, I know you can also try leaving for a few minutes at a time to get him used to it and once your up to 30 minutes you can increase the time to more. You also want to not make a BIG DEAL out of leaving and not greet him right away when you get home .. just wait maybe 15 minutes or so. |
