it really depends on the yorkie, and how you handle the coat. Dolly reached a full coat (floor length) at about one and a half, and then I cut her down because its too much work for a pet, but she's had her yorkie moments LOL.
Ear hair though grows very fast, almost too fast, so it shouldn't be a big problem for you!
