Usually dogs are more difficult to groom when the owner stays and watches. They start shaking like crazy and act like they're scared to death, but as soon as the owner is out of site they do fine.

Let the groomer know that it's her first groom. A good groomer will know how to train a puppy to get used to being groomed and will take it more slowly for them. Sometimes they need to work on them for a few minutes and then put them away to rest for a little while. Then, work on them some more a little later. It depends on the dog and what they can handle.
