The adult teeth are much bigger than puppy teeth. Some dogs don't lose their puppy teeth until they are a year old. My male Cody (who never marked in the house until I got my female) lost all of his baby teeth between 6-12 months, where Bella, turned a year back in october and still has two of the teeth that I need to have pulled now that she is older. Some vets will do it early and some won't. My vet doesn't like to until they are closer to a year old because they can still fall out on their own. Now with Bella still having two of the baby teeth left, food is getting caught between the teeth and I have to floss her teeth to make sure they don't get bad.
