I am so so sorry to hear this....how could someone get to him? Was he left in your fenced in area? Do you think he might have gotten out and got lost in the area somewhere instead of stolen?
Maybe you need to send the neighborhood kids door to door asking people if they saw a dog roaming the streets. Sometimes people pick up animals and not even know what it is. I remember a long time ago we had a poodle and she disappeared long story short she was about a mile down the road in some guy's garage however she would not allow anyone to touch her she was there for a week before we found her. They did feed her hoping she would calm down enough to come out but never did until I showed up. She was so dirty with oil and stuff we had to shave her down and they said that was what she showed up at their house like they had no idea what she was.
