 Please help!!!! I had to give gia cpr!!
OH my god!!! Gia had her last puppy shots today... well besides the rabies, I was writing on here in my living room about frontline being harmful (as I read) relaxing in the living room with a nice cozy fire, we had just let Mia and Gia out to the bathroom, when all of a sudden my husband tripped on Gia!
It happened right next to me. I heard her let out a cry and immediately picked her up. She was unresponsive. She stiffened up and I don't remember seeing her eyes. I think they were back in her head!!! It then appeared she was seizing. She stiffened up and was in the fetal position and was stiff. She stopped breathing!!! I called her name, started freaking out and grabbed my cell phone to call the vet. The have the emergency vets number on their machine. I didn't know it. I then handed the phone to my husband and began to give Gia cpr. Gia started to breath once I did this and continued on her own very little and I gave about 2 big breaths, mouth to mouth. My husband didn't get far with calling the vet instead he started to get dressed to take her to the vet. I grabbed my fur coat wrapped Gia in it to keep her warm. I ran to the car. We rushed 30 min away in a blizzard with our hazard lights on going through red lights to get her there. I called them and told them what happened and that we were on our way. We made it there in 20 min.
I had them check all her blood which is all normal. He said she was a little dehydrated(I keep water and lots of food and treats out for her at all times). I had them do x rays of every part of her body, even her skull. The vet said everything is normal, no broken bones. He said he isn't ruling out the shots she had today. I told them no lepto at the vet and they confirmed. He also said most likely Gia had a seizure because of the shock from my husband tripping on her, or from the vaccines. She is unbalanced and seems lethargic, not herself to me. He said that she is stable. She is hooked up to an iv and is being given steroids and water for the dehydration.
I gave her a bunch of nutrical today. Soft food, hard food, and a ton of treats. This little girl eats and gains nothing. She weighs 2 pounds and is 16 weeks. I have had her a whole month and she hasn't gained a pound.
They are keeping her over night and I wanted to stay and they wouldn't let me. I feel like such a bad mother. I am so sad. I cannot believe this happened. I am devastated. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. Do you think she will be ok? |
