I have mixed feelings about leaving collars on while he/she is inside. They are good if they ever do run out the door since they have tags..but also what if they get caught on something. That really scares me.

I always make sure the collar isn't too loose to be able to get caught on things. I know some people use the cat break-away collars so if they did get caught on something then it would come open with a bit of a tug.
I think personally the risk of one of my girls getting out the house is far greater than them getting their collar caught on something. I went as far as to crawl round on my hands and knees and look for anything which they could get stuck on I didn't actually find anything.
