I have the problem with Bentley too. He just sits and stares at me as if I am a complete fool. My neighbor (who went to training with her dog) told me to look at Bentley while running backwards and to call him, then give them a treat when you stop because
WALA! he is right there with you. Apparently her trainer told her that no dog can resist a good chase
LOL.
Several times a day I will just start running backwards and calling his name. Not sure if this will be helpful to you but I have been doing it with Bentley a bit and it seems to be helping (at least until we can get into a good training class ourselves).
WARNING: take a good look where your going before you start backing up! Yeah... that is another discussion topic! HA HA HA
