It seems that Yorkies are harder to potty train than other dogs. I have a "teapot" yorkie who currently weights 10lb at 14months. She took really well to potty training and I've never used pee pads. Maybe she was easier because she is bigger? I'm not too sure.
The nice thing about yorkie pups compared to labs, is that when they get excited and jump on you they don't bowl you over! haha. I'd go for it, you won't regret it.
