I work from home so leaving the dogs alone isn't an issue.

But I have to inquire whether housebreaking a Yorkie truly is more challenging than any other breed. Both of my dogs did take about 3 months until I was totally confident. I've used crate training too. But with a Yorkie is it really that much more difficult that any other dog? Is it necessary to use the pee pads inside? Are their systems really immature at 12 weeks when its time to go home with the new owner? Other than size, how would it be different from bringing home an 8 week old lab puppy?

My investigations now are in the hopes of bringing home a puppy during the summer.

Thanks for your help. Kathy
Hi Kathy,
They do say that yorkies are the HARDEST breed to house train, however, I got Fiona when she was 3.5 months old, and she did awesome! She only had 2 accidents and both of them were on hard wood floors, as long as your consistant with training (crate is great) then you should be fine! I have Fiona going on command! I was a vet tech for 7 years, and i never really was fond of yorkies, but then i met Fiona and i am in love, and cannot wait to get another one! the only thing that is difficult is the up keep! I have dachshunds so its just a bath for them, but not with fiona! she gets along with so many dogs, and does great. i would really just go for it!!!!
