I've adopted puppies from the humane society in the past and when I did I had to take them to my vet and get them fixed by a certain date. Then the vet sends them the paper work stating it was done. If you do that you get part of your adoption fee back. But they really don't keep track of it and I think it's because they'd rather not give back part of the adoption fees. I know this because I went over the time limit once and never heard a word from them.
