I'll be honest. I've never had trouble introducing new dogs into the family. At one time I had 9 dogs some Pits, and a boxer, and then I introduced a minature poodle, and last my Yorkie. Of course I introduced them one at a time. I have a back porch with doors from the house to the porch, and the first day I would keep the new dog on the porch, and the others in the house so they could see each other, and realize there was a new member. I would introduce the small dogs first, so they could become buds. I would just put them down, and let the smell each other watch them closely and in a day they be friends. The big ones I kept on a leash until I was sure everything was cool. I don't think you'll have any problems introducing your male to your female. It's always easier with two different sexes. I think the only thing you need to do is the first day is have them in two different places where they can see and smell each other, and the next day I'd try letting them just meet each other. Sorry this was so long, but that's how I did it.
