The number change isn't uncommon.
My dog's post bile acids went from 47 to 15 to 106.

Some vets do not believe that asymptomatic MVD needs to be treated at all. Just watch the medication and anesthesia that the dog is given. Others say it can't hurt to treat. If you do decide to manage this with diet and supplements, remember that it isn't just the amount of protein that is important but the type. Vegetarian protein is easier on their livers. How did the vet come to the conclusion that this is MVD and not a large shunt?
