I don't normally use a slicker brush on yorkies only when they are very matted and the owners dose not want me to shave the coat off. I normally use my Greyhound brush on them and a good conditioner. A slicker brush can really be damaging to the coat but when the coat is already so matted and you can't get the mat's out and you don't want to shave it, then go to a slicker brush.
It also really helps to have a stand dryer as well. That really helps to find the mat's and helps get the mat's out as while.

On my own yorkies I like to use MATRIX SLEEK LOOK. I also use Paul Mitchell baby shampoo for the face.I bath my yorkies once a week to keep the matting down.
But I am always looking for thing I can use to make my yorkies coat healthier!!
