Many breeders recommend free feeding Yorkies till 6-8 months of age. You really don't need to worry about overfeeding or getting too fat if you use kibble. Their stomach's can only hold so much and they go through growth spurts so the appetite can vary. You don't need to worry about fat until after the age of 8 months.
