We are back from the vet... So the vet checked out Cisco and came to the conclusion that it must be one of two things. The first scenario would be that Cisco has meningitis, not the bacterial kind though. The vet said that this type of meningitis is very responsive to steroids and if this is the case, the prednisone she prescribed for Cisco will clear it up. The second scenario would be that Cisco has some type of back injury. She said because he is walking so well and is repositioning himself and going the bathroom normally, etc., bedrest and some doggy perkesets will clear this up. She said the only way to really determine what is going on is to go to Boston and have him seen by a canine neurologist and get an MRI and spinal tap. She said that unless he gets a lot worse, we should just treat him for both scenarios and he should improve and that the trip to Boston would be unnecessary.
I just about died when she mentioned the meningitis but she reassured me that if that is the case, the prednisone should do the trick and it is not the bacterial kind people die from rapidly.
She said I should relax and that Cisco should be ok but if anything happens to bring him right back. She tested his blood and did a lyme test and everything came back fine. She is going to call tomorrow to check in on him.
*sigh of relief* (for now)
Thanks for everyone's thoughts and prayers!
