From what Patty has described and from the pics that I have seen, it isn't going to be fun. She is going to have a huge amount of stitches plus having tendons swapped around to "fix her thumb". She is VERY right handed and we have talked about some of the things that are very hard to do with the "other hand".

I know she will be reading this thread so let's post not only to let her know that we are praying for her but to help make her smile and mention those things that it is hard to do with the "wrong hand".....

I'll start

It is very hard to wipe with the wrong hand......
Leave it to you to think of that one!!! LOL.

Patti - you will be in my thoughts and prayers.... it will be a difficult time but you will do great - you are a strong gal.

I had to type one handed for a while after a surgery - with the wrong hand. It was rather comical. Now, if you are having surgery on both hands we have to be more creative here.

You can type with a stick in your mouth. It would be slow, but at least we'll be able to communicate with you. You can put a little piece of rubber or something on the end of the stick so it stays on the keys better and doesn't slide around... less typos.

I'm guessing you get out of doing dishes for several weeks? That's a good thing, right?

As for the wiping thing... you could ask for a catheter to be put in. That would help a little bit.

Hang in there.
