Yep, there is lots better food out there, but for now stick with the purina. As he is only eight weeks (really, really young to have left mommy!) I think it's pretty important that he eats more that 2x a day. You don't have to wait to change this schedule, I just wouldn't change the actual food at this time.
Can you leave his food out for him? That would probably be ideal at this point. If that won't work out, start feeding him every four or five hours. Say 7am, 12pm, 4pm and 8pm, just an example. With him being so young and the stress of "moving out," it's important that he gets bits of food all day to prevent any hypoglycemia. In the meantime, it's a perfect time to start researching dog food! When he's had time to settle and is ready to change, you'll be all up to speed and will know which direction you want to go with the food. Good luck!
