So we took pepper to the vet two weeks ago because she was scooting and biting at the hair around her butt. They cleaned out the little glands and said that she was in heat. She also said that it could have one or both of these things that caused the scooting.
We dealt with the her being in heat by keeping diapers on her; we put store bought/disposable ones on at night and a washable one with a pantyliner in it during the day. Every once in a great while she would pee in the diaper and we would catch it and change the diaper within an hour.
She is no longer bleeding and so hasn't had any diapers on for a few days but she is constantly itching back there and I just caught her scooting again.
What could be wrong? Could she be irritated from the diapers or maybe something in the pantyliners? Would she need to have her butt cleaned out again already?
I'm worried that she got some kind of infections or something from being left with her peed-in diapers for too long. Can this happen?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts. I just would like to know what can possibly be wrong before I take her to the vet again.
