I just think it's sad to count out every family that has children under 12--every family should have the opportunity to research and have the breed of their choice, whether it's a St. Bernard, poodle, yorkie, chihuahua, whatever--as long as they put the time and effort into researching and are willing to go the extra mile to have the breed they want. I guess this is a touchy subject for me because I do have children under 12 and I would have been very disappointed had my boss said--too bad you have little kids so you can't have these pups. This will have to be a subject where I will agree to disagree rather then argue about it.
I agree. I get offended when people say all kids under the age of 12 shouldn't have yorkies, pets, or anything. Like I said, I was 3 years old and we got a 6 week old delicate kitten and she lived a LONG 17 years without any injuries or accidents caused by me. I was an only child and had no one to rough house with and even if I was, I still was a calm child, and I was taught to be careful. You know what I did 1/2 the time? I read. I read books all day, every day. If I didn't have any animals in my house, I would have had no one. I loved every minute of my animals and I cherished them. It taught me how to love and how to respect. My dad was in the army and we moved every 3 years, so I didn't really have friends because I was also really shy. My pets were my BEST friends and I considered them to be siblings. Now some kids, yes, they shouldn't be given pets, but it's not right to exclude ALL kids just because of their age. And besides, accidents don't discriminate based on age... they can happen to anyone... this thread is solid proof that people of any age have accidents.
