Suzi is my very first Yorkie, so bare with me.... I think she has a cotton coat too. Her coat is very soft , but not too thick . SHe matts easily underneath. i have to work hard on keeping that from happening. He is 9 months old and has not reached her full coloring. I've noticed that underneath her coat is more silver gray , but, on top she is black. Her face has the silver gray and so does her paws. I think she is beautiful looking.
It is just very difficult to keep her from matting underneath. I bought a special dematter comb and condioner last night. AND in the afternoon gave Suzi a trim. I trimmed her hind quarters, and around her face. Suzi was very good throughout the process, yet she ran away from me afterwards. But, she forgave me so thereafter.
Are cotton coats harder to maintain ?
