Default free feeding

our little kayden is now 9 weeks old.
she was surprise gift to my daughter from her father (who doesn't live with us).
i've already made mistakes...but have learned so much from this site, and have received excellent advice so far. thanks everyone!

here's my question...
come monday, i go back to work, and my daughter goes back to school.
i've been feeding kayden 3 times a day because she gets hungry and sniffs her bowl and whines around 2 o'clock.
well...we won't be able to do this anymore.

i put a few pieces of her hard kibble in her bowl a couple times yesterday and today...and she gobbles them up likes it's gonna be her last meal!

i'm worried that if i leave some in her bowl as i leave, she'll eat it all at once and get sick while i'm gone.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
kelli
