I keep Lucy and Rebel fairly short all year round. Lucy tends to mat easily and I think it's better for her. I keep the hair long on top of her head for her bows, and keep her "beard" a little longer, but rounded so that she doesn't keep her face wet when she drinks.

I keep Reb in a puppy cut most of the time. He's a little stinker and gets into EVERYTHING. I can't tell you how many times he's come running up to me with stuff hung in his hair and it makes life easier all way round to keep 'em short.

It's a matter of choice to me. When I first got 'em, all I could think about was that long, flowing coat that you see in pictures. Reality set in quickly when I saw how hard it is to keep them that way.
