Bridgette's problem behaviors. Ok I have had my Bridgette a little over a year now, and her problem behavior has rapidly progressed.
In the house she is scared of everything. She spends all day and night hiding, under the couch, beds anything she can. Only to come out when she hears the word "treat" I have never, neither has my family done anything to harm her. Even when we lay on the floor and say "come here Bridgette." she basically crawls on her belly to us. Getting as low to the ground as she can. and then rolls over on her back when she gets close.
But then outside in the front yard she is loving friendly happy dog. The only time she ever seems like a normal happy dog. Oh or when anyone comes in the house, she runs to greet. She ADORES people!
Then we go to the dog park, and she charges other dogs barking and growling. When she goes with us to the (small dog section) of the local dog park she creates an attack on other dogs if I have any of my other dogs with me. I know this because when I don't take her my other dogs have no problems with other dogs.
A little about her backgroud (as far as we know) has been a hard one. She was born and raised for the first 2 1/2 yrs of her life in a breeders home with her life time companion another male yorkie named "Buddy". Then the breeder decided to down size and sold her to a local byb. Who buys and resells dogs for profit. Then bridgette's companion "Buddy" was poisoned by the byb's neighbors because of barking. The woman bred her twice and both litters didn't make it.
We met this woman at the flea market. She had about 10 dogs, 3 of which died within 4 days. She just said "they were sick." Anyway long story short when we heard her story and how badly she needed a stable home we took her in.
So we can understand her fear in the house, but she has been with us over a year now I thought she would be fine.
Also when we got her she was great with other dogs, a little shy. But fine now she is charging them head on. It doesn't matter weather they are 4 lbs or 200 lbs.
I am worried about her, frustrated, and worried about her affect on my other dogs. Please any suggestions would be great! |
