As long as he's eating and drinking, then don't worry, it's when they get lethargic that they need just a little bit of white karo syrup on their gums. You may never need it. My little girl is a little bigger than a pepsi can and is almost 7 mos old, and right around 2 lbs. I really don't limit her playing time, as she's finally starting to fit in here(we've had her 6 weeks now). I do check her gums periodically if she's not eating, but, when she is eating, and acting normal, I don't mess with her.
